History

JUST IMAGINE A WORLD WHERE EQUIPMENT DOESN’T WEAR OUT OR FAIL. IT’S PRETTY HARD TO DO SO ISN’T IT? WE HAVE THESE THINGS CALLED FRICTION, UNEXPECTED EVENTS AND PRODUCTION DEMANDS THAT ALL ADD PRESSURE TO PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT.

These pressures all result in premature or end-of-life failure of equipment. You’ve then got a few choices, to repair your equipment; replace it; or retrofit it. That’s where my team of dedicated and skilled staff can help you to make the right decision.

Back in 1946, my grandfather Sam Fletcher started our business by rewinding electric motors for the local industries in Stoke-on-Trent.

My father Malcolm Fletcher joined the business in 1966 and grew the company into new business areas including pump, gearbox and fan repairs. He started what was probably the first independent industrial electronic repair company in the UK. This stood alongside our electro-mechanical division to provide a growing demand for our services UK wide. Fast forward a generation, it’s me and my team driving the business forward. Business demands have changed with productivity and equipment availability being key to production.

Our business model has had to change over the years too. On one hand we have our workshops, open and manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for those unexpected breakdown situations where a repair is needed. That’s for all the services we offer – electric motors, pumps, fans, gear units, industrial automation equipment such as servo motors and drives, variable speed drives, human machine interfaces, control panels and power supplies. On the other hand, we have our reliability team and innovative condition monitoring systems that can predict when the normal operating condition of a system changes, to help you prevent failures.

Family Business

As the third generation Fletcher leading this great family business, I’m proud to be driving the business forward. Many things have changed since I was dragged into the business at nine years old to clean parts and sweep the workshop floor. Yet the desire to provide a great service and keep industry running has just grown.

It is because of the dedication and teamwork of my staff, who will always go the extra-mile to solve whatever engineering issues you have, that I can say with confidence “Fletcher Moorland offers the complete engineering service”.
